Important Landmarks and Places to Explore in Mid City Los Angeles

Mid City is a growing neighborhood in Los Angeles that roughly runs from Hoover Street on the east, to La Cienega Boulevard and Robertson Boulevard on the west, Olympic Boulevard to the north, and the Santa Monica Freeway to the south. Due the increase in infrastructure and developments in the area over the recent years, Mid City is a prime location for investors to purchase multifamily buildings and for tenants to explore housing opportunities. Landmarks and Attractions

Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) – Originally founded in 1961, LACMA is currently the largest art museum in the Western United States and attracts over a million visitors per year. The museum holds more than 150,000 works, including both ancient and modern art. In addition to the art exhibits, LACMA boasts the ever-famous Urban Lightsculpture by Chris Burden, which is made of restored street lamps from the streets of Southern California in the 1920s & 1930s.

La Brea Tar Pits and Museum – Adjacent to the LACMA stands the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, which are home to one of the world’s most famous fossil excavation sites. Visitors can tour the museum exhibitions and visit the fossil lab. The museum also has a 3D theater and hosts live shows. Visitors can tour the outdoor tar pits, walk through the park and observe the active dig site.

Ray Charles Memorial Library – Opened in 2010, the Ray Charles Memorial Library celebrates the legacy of Ray Charles, who opened his first recording studio at the historic RPM International Building in Mid City in 1964.

Midtown Crossing – Midtown Crossing in a shopping mall conveniently located at the intersection of Pico, Venice, and San Vicente boulevards. It is home to many retailers and dining establishments, including Lowe’s, Smart & Final, ULTA, Jersey Mike’s, Chipotle, and others.

Restaurants and Cafes

Pasta Sisters – Pasta Sisters is a laid-back pasta restaurant and Italian shop. A favorite spot among locals, the restaurant is known for its fresh ingredients, homemade pasta, and colorful dishes. The shop uses family recipes from Padova, a town in Northern Italy.

My 2 Cents LA – Talented chef Alisa Reynolds opened My 2 Cents LA, a restaurant inspired by her family’s Southern heritage. The restaurant is known for its health-conscious twist on soul food classics, such as gluten-free fried chicken and quinoa mac and cheese.

N/Soto – Opened during the pandemic by renowned chefs Niki Nakayama and Carole Iida-Nakayama of the two Michelin star restaurant, n/naka, n/soto features a Japanese izakaya-inspired menu of fresh sushi, skewers, tempura, and salads that are artfully presented.

Gish Bac – Gish Bac is a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Arlington Heights that is known for its delicious barbacoa, which is based on a family recipe passed on for generations. Gish Bac is also considered of the most celebrated Oaxacan eateries in Los Angeles.

Parks

Harold A Henry Park – Harold Henry Park is the perfect spot for children and families located in the heart of Windsor Village. The park is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk and is well-known for its scenic pine and eucalyptus trees. The park is an activity hub in the area, featuring a running trail, picnic tables, and a play area for children.

Queen Anne Park – Queen Anne Park is home to many recreational activities, open every day except Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The park has tennis courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, and an exercise equipment area. There is also an indoor recreation center, picnic benches, and plenty of green space to relax.

LA High Memorial Park – LA High Memorial Park is a favorite among locals. The small neighborhood park borders a picturesque library and has grassy fields and a shaded play structure with swings. The park is open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
